Long-suffering drivers face more delays as this road dug up again

Motorists are facing delays after a well-used road was dug up – again. And four-way lights have gone up at Maunders Road’s junction with Foxley Lane as gas works are again being carried out in Milton.[1]

The works are also expected to last another couple of weeks as drivers – including those on the school-run – face being snarled up in rush-hour queues. It represents more gas works being carried out at that end of the village.

StokeonTrentLive reported[2] back at the end of 2021 how the stretch between Foxley Lane and Newford Crescent had to be totally shut off as engineers replaced a 70-year-old pipe. A year later and part of Newford Crescent was closed[3] to allow workers to overhaul the ageing system while emergency repairs had to be carried out in the neighbourhood too.

It’s a well-used route by those on the school-run to Excel Academy and is also regularly used by drivers looking to avoid Leek New Road delays.

The nature of the project has not yet been released. They come at a time there are various other temporary lights and roadworks going up around North Staffordshire.
