Motorists faced major delays this evening after a crash closed the A50 eastbound at Blythe Bridge. The road was closed following a collision which was first reported at 3pm today (Monday).
Traffic was reported to be queuing after a crash between the A521 Blythe Bridge Roundabout and Draycot and the A522 Uttoxeter/Upper Tean. There was also congestion on routes through Blythe Bridge, Draycott in the Moors and Tean as traffic was diverted.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported: “A50 Eastbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident between A521 (Blythe Bridge Roundabout / Draycot, Blythe Bridge) and A522 (Uttoxeter / Upper Tean, Uttoxeter). Congestion to routes through Blythe Bridge, Draycott in the Moors and Tean as traffic diverts.
“The road is closed following an accident first reported at around 15:00. Lane two (of two) is also closed on the opposite side. Affecting traffic between Stoke on Trent and Uttoxeter.”
Meanwhile, one lane was closed and there was slow traffic due on the A50 Westbound between A522 (Uttoxeter / Upper Tean, Uttoxeter) and A521 (Blythe Bridge Roundabout / Draycot, Blythe Bridge) as a result of the incident on the A50 eastbound. Travel time was said to be around 10 minutes.
Lane two (of two) was closed to assist with the incident which has closed the eastbound side.
