The firm has also released four million £1 and £2 tickets. The cut-price tickets are valid on some lines between Monday, September 11, and Friday, October 20.
The firm told CheshireLive the top selling journey in Cheshire in the first 24 hours of the sale was Chester[1] to Manchester Piccadilly, with tickets available at the time of writing for 50p on weekdays between September 12 and October 20. The price rises to £1 for weekend trips.
The cheapest fair for the same journey on September 6 was priced at £7.50 on Tuesday afternoon (September 5). Tickets in Northern’s flash sale can be found on the firm’s website and app.
Two trips from Warrington[3] Central have also proven popular, with journies to Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street the second and third most popular respectively. At the time of writing, tickets between Warrington Central and Manchester Oxford Road are available for 50p between September 12 and October 20, except for Sunday journies, which cost £1.

The sale closes 6pm Thursday (September 7). Those travelling from Crewe[4] can take advatage of 50p tickets to Manchester Piccadilly every day between September 12 and October 20.
Those travelling to Piccadilly from Macclesfield[5] can also take advantage of 50p fares between those dates, except for Sundays. £1 fares between Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent are also offered.
Chester travellers can get as far as Bradford and Leeds on £1 for the vast majority of days between September 12 and October 20 with flash sale tickets.
Mark Powles, commercial and customer director at Northern, said: “24 hours-in and the Flash Sale is proving as popular as ever.
“There’s still plenty of availability for services across the network so use the new ‘Cheap Fare Finder’ on our website to bag the date and time that suits you.”
All Flash Sale tickets must be booked seven days in advance of travel and are available online, via Northern’s app and website. Northern, the second largest train operator in the UK, is owned by Northern Trains Ltd, a subsidiary of the Department for Transport’s public sector owning group, ‘DOHL.’
That group has responsibility for two other firms, LNER and Southeastern Railway.
