When Boots in Woking will close for good

Boots is about to close around 300 branches of stores around the UK, with two stores in Surrey set to shut to the public. The closures are part of the company’s plan to combine smaller stores across the same town into one main shop.

Two stores were earmarked in Woking[1] to close, one on Heathside Road, and another on Guildford[2] Road. It has been said by Boots[3] that those working at the doomed shops will be offered alternative roles.

The Boots on Heathside Road closed in July, while the Guildford Road in Woking will close for good by the end of October. An exact date is currently unknown.

But the Surrey store might not be missed by some – it has got mixed reviews on Google. One particularly disgruntled shopper branded it as having the “the world’s worst customer service”.

Someone else was more forgiving and wrote: “Wonderful staff. They work so hard to please people and still no one appreciates them. People don’t have the right to complain about them until they’ve worked in a pharmacy and experienced just how busy they are”

Another harked: “The service in this pharmacy is the slowest I’ve ever experienced. ” But another disagreed, adding: “Picked up my prescription in u set 5 minutes, impressive service!”

Boots said there are no proposed redundancies despite the plan, with plans to redeploy affected workers.

A Boots spokeswoman said: “Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up-to-date environment.”
