Edinburgh trains suspended as ’emergency incident’ at Waverley …
Trains heading in and out of Edinburgh’s Waverley Station[1] have been suspended due to an ’emergency incident’.
The alarm was raised shortly after 3pm on Sunday afternoon as ScotRail[2] has advised passengers that services to and from the station may have cancelled or delayed.
Ticket acceptance has also been put in place for Edinburgh Trams to and from the city centre due to the delays. Updating passengers, ScotRail said: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident near Edinburgh Waverley. Due to this, all services to/from the station may be cancelled, delayed or revised.”
One passenger heading to the capital also took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say there have been reports of an ‘incident’ at the busy city centre station which has brought a halt to services.
ScotRail also warned passengers on the Helensburgh to Edinburgh service that it will start and terminate at Bathgate. They added: “UPDATE: Helensburgh – Edinburgh services will start and terminate at Bathgate. All other services will start/terminate at Haymarket.”
The exact nature of the incident is currently unknown although one eye witness claims both police and the fire service are in attendance on a section of the tracks near Waverley. The British Transport Police have been approached for comment.
