Driver taken to hospital as A50 crash causes major delays

A man has been taken to hospital after a crash on the A50[1] that caused delays for thousands of commuters this morning. The smash happened on the stretch between the Blythe Bridge[2] and Tean[3] turnoffs in the early hours of this morning.

The driver was taken to hospital in the wake of the accident by a friend. West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed no ambulance had to be dispatched to the scene.
