Crash between car and lorry shuts A421 westbound – updates
The A421 is shut westbound in Bedfordshire this afternoon (Friday, September 1) following a crash involving a car and a lorry. Police have told motorists to find alternative routes while emergency services deal with the incident.
Traffic[1] monitoring service Inrix first reported the collision at 2.55pm. It said in an update: "A421 westbound closed, slow traffic due to accident, a car and a lorry involved from A600 (Harrowden Interchange, Harrowden) to A6 (Elstow Interchange, Elstow). Congestion to Marsh Leys Roundabout, A4280 Roundabout and Ampthill Road."
Bedfordshire Police[2] said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Please find alternative routes to avoid congestion."
