Condition update on teen stabbed in back while with girlfriend

A teenager was stabbed in the back and the shin in an attack in Huyton.[1]

The victim, 17, had been out with his girlfriend, at the junction of Tarbock Road and Logwood Road,[2] when he was approached by two men. Merseyside police[3] have reported that they began arguing before an altercation broke out and the teenager was stabbed.

He was taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment. His condition is not believed to be life threatening. The two suspects left the scene after the incident. An investigation has been launched and police are now appealing for information.

Detective inspector[6] Peter Rexwinkel said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place. Tarbock Road would have been busy at the time with motorists going home from work, and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at around 5pm onwards and saw what happened to please contact us.

“I would also ask people who were in the area to check dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to see if they may have captured something which may be vital to the investigation.” He added: “Reducing knife crime in Merseyside is a priority all year round.

“Our officers are committed in removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons through proactive use of stop and search powers, open land searches, warrants and education work alongside partners. We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101, DM @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 23000934387.”
