Car smashes over bank and careers into side of Plymouth home

A car has careered over a grass bank and smashed into the side of a block of flats in Plymouth. The incident which happened on Monday caused structural damage to the flat inside.

The incident which happened on Monday, September 4 at Dunclair Park in Laira. It has caused the internal walls to crack throughout the kitchen.

The driver of the car, a resident in his 80s, was not seriously injured in the crash, but did go to hospital to be checked over.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police[1] has said: "This was reported to us at around 2.40pm on 4 September. Minor injuries were reported and the casualty was taken to hospital."

South West Ambulance Service have been contacted for further information regarding this crash.

PlymouthLive has been told by a family member of one of the building’s residents that the car has caused significant structural damage to the ground floor flat and the flat above. They added that the woman who lives in the damaged flat cannot use the kitchen due to the cracked walls inside the property.

The building is owned by Sanctuary Housing Association. PlymouthLive has been told that they have been contacted by residents and the housing officer has inspected the property. Sanctuary have been approached for comment.
