Cambs woman left neighbour’s children afraid to play in their own …
Peterborough neighbour-from-hell Clare Bainbridge left her neighbour's children afraid to play in their own back garden. The 50-year-old bombarded her neighbours with abuse that left them afraid to leave their home.
In an incident in November 2022, she was filmed by her victim shouting abuse at her and her young children. The victim, who moved her family out of the area to avoid further confrontation, told Cambridgeshire[1] Police her children were afraid to play in the garden due to Bainbridge's behaviour.
Bainbridge, from Arundel Road in the Gunthorpe area of Peterborough[2], admitted a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress. She was ordered to pay £1,000 to her victim and complete a 35-day rehabilitation activity requirement at a hearing at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (September 6).
PC James Cullimore, from Peterborough’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “No one should be made to feel unsafe in their own home – the constant abuse Bainbridge subjected the family to was horrendous and got so bad they ended up moving house. I hope this action shows that we will do what we can to support victims of harassment and put them before the courts where we are able to evidence offences have taken place.”
