Biker killed in early-hours Bristol Road crash

A biker has died after colliding with a tree in the early hours of the morning. The incident happened near the junction of Bournville Lane and Bristol Road today, September 20.

There was a huge 999 response to the crash. It happened near to Bournville Police Station and the Valley Parkway Park and Garden.

A West Midlands Police[1] spokesperson said: "There is a road closure on Bristol Road near to Bournville Lane[2] in Birmingham. Sadly a motorcyclist, a man in his twenties, has died after colliding with a tree."

The statement added that emergency services were on the scene and the road was closed. The news came in a tweet that was posted at 4.54am.

The Inrix traffic management system said: "A38 Bristol Road South is closed southbound due to a serious accident from Witherford Way (Bournville, Birmingham) to Hole Lane (Weoley Castle). Traffic is coping well. The road was shut just before 5am this morning. A motorbike has been reported to have collided with a tree."

West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Fire Service have been contacted for a response.
