Biker airlifted to Royal Stoke after school bus crash

Two air ambulances were sent to the scene of a crash between a biker and a coach carrying school children. The motorcyclist was airlifted to the Royal Stoke following the smash near Abbots Bromley with ‘very serious injuries’.

Emergency services were called to the crash – at the junction of Uttoxeter Road and Inga Thorpe Road – at around 8.25am. As reported by StokeonTrentLive[1] both roads were closed off.

West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] has confirmed an ambulance, a paramedic manager, and air ambulances from Cosford and Staffordshire were sent to the scene. While the elderly biker suffered serious injuries nobody on the coach required any treatment.

A spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found bystanders providing care to the rider of the motorcycle. He had suffered very serious injuries.

“After being treated at the scene, he was airlifted by the Cosford aircraft to the major trauma centre at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.[3] No-one on the bus required treatment.”
