Battered North Staffordshire road shut as ‘anti-skid’ work gets …

Motorists are being warned a section of a busy North Staffordshire road is shut this week – to give crews chance to fix up the battered stretch. A diversion is in place while the section of Ash Bank Road in Werrington[1] is closed each day – outside of rush-hour.

And Staffordshire County Council[2] says the works will also include the installation of anti-skid material in an effort to ‘protect road users for years to come’. The section of the A52 undergoing the repairs runs from the road’s junctions with Withystakes and Washerwall Lane.

The scheme got underway today (September 11) and is expected to be completed by Friday (September 15). But the road won’t be shut all the time, instead the closure will be in place between 9.30am and 2.30pm each day.

Road works monitoring site One.Network says the scheme involves ‘highway repair and maintenance works’ along with ‘preventative carriageway treatment works.

A spokesman for Staffordshire County Council added: “The section being covered from Washerwall Lane to Withystakes/Armshead Road will include a section of anti-skid/skid resistance material to protect road users for years to come.”
