A46 crash closes dual carriageway at Six Hills and caused major …

The A46 Southbound was closed for more than 9 hours following a crash on the busy Leicestershire route. The incident happened on the southbound carriageway at Six Hills at around 9am on Monday morning, with a lorry crashing into a tree on the road which led to two other cars hitting the felled tree.

The incident caused the A46 southbound to close between the junctions for the A6006 Paddys Lane and Ratcliffe on the Wreake. While the cars were recovered within a few hours of the incident, the lorry required more work to be recovered – being described as a “complex recovery” at the time.

The road reopened fully just after 6.15pm.
