You can travel from Lincoln to Skegness for just ?2 each way

Families may be gearing up for days out in Skegness[1] despite the rainy weather as the summer holidays are in full swing. Trains from Lincoln to Skegness need to be booked in advance with East Midlands Railway but there are alternative options to getting to the coast via buses.

From Lincoln[2] to Skegness bus station, Stagecoach is offering £4 fares each way as part of the Department for Transport and the government’s Help for Households initiative. The journey takes less than two hours and is a cheaper alternative to getting to Skegness on the train.

Bus 56 goes from bay L at Lincoln bus station, stopping at Horncastle[3] on the way but then continuing to Skegness and stopping at stand D. The buses run on the hour with some additional services during busy times.

The £2 bus cap scheme will run until October 31, 2023, and the usual tickets apply for services 91A and 96S. Stagecoach states on its website that taking the journey from Lincoln to Skegness via bus saves on average 4,582g of CO2 compared to driving a car.

People visiting Skegness can also reach the town via train but East Midlands Railway is running an advanced ticket service between July 9 and September 9 to manage the busy summer period. Commuters also need to queue at Skegness train station before getting on their train, with two separate queues for pre-booked tickets and tickets bought on the day.
