Police were called by the ambulance service at 2.35pm this afternoon, Friday 25 August, to reports of a collision on the A12 London Road at the junction with Walker Gardens, involving a pedestrian and a DAF lorry.

The pedestrian – a man aged in his 60s – sadly died at the scene. The A12 remains closed in both directions, but is expected to reopen later this evening.

Officers would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision, and are also asking any motorists driving in the area at the time with a dashcam in their vehicle to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
