Women dies at scene of horror crash between car and HGV lorry

A WOMAN has died after a horror smash with an HGV lorry.

Emergency services[1] raced to the scene on the B981 near Crossgates in Fife[2] at around 12.30pm today.

The fatal collision involved a red and white Scania articulated lorry and a white Vauxhall Astra car.

The 58-year-old female driver of the car[3] was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured.

Road policing officers are now appealing for information from the public.

Cops[4] paid tribute to the family of the victim as they launched a probe into the incident.

Sergeant Colin Morrison said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and an investigation is being carried out to establish the full circumstances.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch. In particular, if you have dashcam[5] footage that could assist with our enquiries then make contact with us."

Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1580 of Monday, August 14.
