Woman dies as three people taken to hospital in horror crash

A woman has died after a crash in Wirral earlier this week.[1]

Three people were taken to hospital after a two car crash on Thornton Common Road[2], at around 9.05pm on Monday, August 14. One of those people, a 68-year-old woman who was a passenger, has now died in hospital.

Two other men, the drivers, were also taken to hospital. They remain there with serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. The incident involved a blue Ford Fiesta and a blue Peugeot 3008.

A 60-year-old man, from Neston[4], was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family of the lady who has died in this collision. We launched an investigation on Monday and our detectives are gathering evidence.

“Our priority is to get answers for her family, who are being supported by specially trained officers. If you were passing the location and saw or captured the incident on CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, or believe you witnessed either vehicle prior to the collision, then please get in touch with us.
