Residents living in parts of Essex could be treated to a mini display from the Red Arrows and other aircraft this weekend when they travel to and from Southend Airport. The Typhoon display team, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) and Red Arrows aircraft are all scheduled to arrive at Southend Airport later this week ahead of airshows nearby.
According to the Military Airshows website, the Red Arrows will arrive on Saturday evening (7.57pm) with the BBMF aircraft landing on Friday (August 18) in the afternoon. The Typhoons will arrive on Thursday (August 17) morning.
Their presence in Essex is to be prepared for Airshows at Eastbourne, Felixstowe and Clacton. The 30th anniversary of the Clacton Airshow is scheduled to take place on August 24 and 25.
Exact take off and landing times for the Typhoons and BBMF aircraft is unknown, but there are some timings available for the Red Arrows. It’s understood they will take off at 2.10pm on August 20 on their way to Felixstowe.
There will be a brief flypast for Southend at 2.53pm before returning to the airport at 2.54pm. They’ll then depart at 5.15pm for Eastbourne, returning at 6.01pm. They’ll depart Southend for RAF Waddington at 8.15pm on August 20.

A statement issued by London Southend Airport said: “Please note that we are not hosting public access tours this year; public safety is of the utmost importance, as is maintaining and adhering to strict safety and security regulations around the aircraft and airfield whilst commercial operations continue to take place.
“We understand that people will want to view the planes, regardless of the above. With that in mind, we are sharing an approximate timetable of their arrival, as below. If you do choose to visit the airport site, please do not put ladders against the perimeter fence and ensure litter is cleared/taken home with you.
“Any form of abuse towards airport staff will not be tolerated. Car parks are open as normal, but you will be expected to pay the regular rates.”
