Watch as Mahek Bukhari tells police brazen lies in interview

TikTok murderer Mahek Bukhari pretended to be an innocent bystander who watched the A46 chase that led to the deaths of Saqib Hussain and Hashim Ijazuddin[1]. Mahek sobbed in the dock as the jury’s verdicts were delivered at Leicester Crown Court today, finding her, her mother Ansreen and two others guilty of murdering the two friends when their car was rammed off the road last February.

But after witnessing the fatal crash that her killer plot had led to, and subsequently being arrested, she brazenly lied to officers during her police interview. Detective Inspector Mark Parish said the defendants lied to cover their tracks, saying: “Their only concern during the whole incident and investigation has been for themselves.”

Footage released by Leicestershire Police[2] shows Mahek’s police interview in which she confidently gives officers her false version of events around the fatal crash. She even told officers that she was an experienced driver of at least four years as she pretended not to know to whom the others cars involved belonged.

She is seen telling officers: “I said to my mum, what is this car trying to do?” The TikToker pretended she had nothing to do with the chase along the A46, suggesting she was trying to get away from what she said appeared to be a silver car, agitating a blue Skoda – the car Saqib and Hashim were in.

Lying to officers she described the incident saying: “I’ve gone past and I’ve gone further away from this car on the left side, and then the blue car has caught up with me on the right side – I don’t know who they are.”

She continued: “I looked at my mum and I says ‘Mum, what is going on? What is wrong with… Are they, are they… I don’t know if they’re drunk… What are they trying to do to this blue car in general?

“My mum said ‘May like I said, leave it, you’re not involved, you don’t know what’s going on, you just go straight on and leave it.'”

Mahek had also made up a story about going to Nottingham on the night of the fatal crash, which she had mentioned during her and her mother’s arrest. The TikToker wove a messy web of deceit which ultimately fell apart during the trial.

A jury found Mahek, her mother Ansreen and co-defendants Raees Jamal and Rekan Karwan guilty of murder. Three other defendants – Ameer Jamal, Sanaf Gulamustafa and Natasha Akhtar – were all found guilty of the men’s manslaughter while co-defendant Mohammed Patel was cleared of all charges[4].
