Driver taken to hospital with serious injuries after multi-vehicle crash

A woman in her 40s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a multi-vehicle accident in Cambridgeshire this morning (August 1). The incident was first reported at around 9am.

The A428 Cambridge Road near Eltisley closed in both directions due to the crash involving a car and a lorry. Queuing traffic was on the roads from the Gransden turn-off all the way to the Abbotsley turn off in Croxton.

Emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance, were all on the scene to help with recovery of the vehicles. The affected roads were closed for four hours.

Firefighters used specialist equipment to release the car driver from her vehicle. A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police confirmed that the woman’s condition was not life threatening.

The road reopened just after 1pm. Normal traffic conditions resumed shortly after.
