Two people injured after three car crash on M26
Two people have been injured following a serious crash on the M26 this morning (August 15) involving three cars. Officers from Kent Police[1] were called to the scene on the London-bound carriageway near Junction 2A for Wrotham at 6.40am.
Crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service[2] were also in attendance. It has been confirmed that two people have sustained injuries following the crash.
A lane closure has been in place throughout the morning while emergency services attend the scene. Heavy traffic has built as a result, stretching four miles to the M20 Junction 4 at the incident’s peak, with delays of around 20 minutes.
The A20 also grew very busy through Wrotham Heath as a result of motorists attempting to avoid the congestion. KCC Highways deemed the incident of ‘high’ severity.
An update from KCC Highways posted at 7.24am stated: “1 lane closed and slow moving traffic heading London-bound on the M20 between J4 (A228 Snodland) and J3 (M26) due to an RTC. Emergency services in attendance, please allow extra time for your journey.”
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called to a report of a collision involving three vehicles at 6.40am on Tuesday 15 August 2023. Officers are attending the scene near Junction 2A of the M26 with the South East Coast Ambulance Service. Two people have reported injuries.” You can find our live blog of this incident here[4].
