‘Trespassers on railway’ cause major cancellations at Manchester …

A number of rail services from Manchester stations have been cancelled this afternoon due to 'tresspassers on the railway'.
Services between Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Central are currently blocked and trains are being diverted, cancelled or delayed.
Customers are advised to check their journey ahead of time, with disruption expected to last until 17:30 on Saturday evening (August 12).

A spokesperson for TransPennine Express said: "Due to trespassers on the line between Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Central services are currently disrupted.
"Please can customers check the latest updates for their journeys at tpexpress.co.uk/travel-updates/changes-to-train-times[2]; updates will also be available on our social media channels."
On their website, they added: "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused to your journey today. If your journey has been delayed, you may be entitled to some compensation.

British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
