Tragedy as man dies after he is hit by bin lorry at depot

A man has died after he was hit by a bin lorry at a depot in Bradford.[1]

The tragedy happened at the Biffa Transfer Station in Peace Street, Laisterdyke, on Thursday.

West Yorkshire Police[2] confirmed the fatality and said an investigation was being carried out by the Health and Safety Executive.

A police spokesman said: “West Yorkshire Police are investigating after a man died in a collision with a bin lorry at a depot site in Peace Street, Bradford on Thursday, 10 August.

“The investigation is being carried out with the Health and Safety Executive and the deceased’s family have been informed.”

A Biffa spokesperson said: “It is with great sorrow we share the information that there has been an incident resulting in a fatality at the Biffa Transfer Station in Bradford.

“All our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this tragic time.

“We are carrying out a full investigation into the incident and it would not be appropriate to comment any further at this time.”
