Tragedy as man dies after being hit by lorry in small Yorkshire village
A man has died after being hit by a lorry in a tiny village in South Yorkshire[1].
The emergency services were called to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a lorry at 9.33am on the A635 Barnsley Road in Hickleton, a small village between Doncaster[2], Barnsley and Rotherham. The man, who was in his 50s, was rushed to hospital but he sadly died soon after.
His family has been informed and the A635 has remained closed to allow officers to carry out their investigation. The force are now appealing for witnesses to the tragedy to come forward.
A spokesperson said: “Witnesses are being sought to a fatal collision in Hickleton this morning (Monday 14 August), in which a man has sadly died. Emergency services were called at 9.33am to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and an articulated lorry on the A635 Barnsley Road, Hickleton.
“The pedestrian, believed to be a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital but he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. His family has been informed.
“The A635 is closed to allow for our officers to carry out enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision.”
