Three cars damaged after multi-vehicle crash on A689
Three cars have been damaged after a multi-vehicle crash in Hartlepool[1].
Emergency services were called to the A689 Stockton Road, near its junction with Truro Drive[2], after two vehicles collided around 2.50pm on Saturday. Images from the scene show a number of emergency service vehicles just before the junction traffic lights.
The incident left three cars damaged, according to Cleveland Police[3], and sparked the closure of the major route in and out of the seaside town. AA Traffic News showed heavy traffic down Stockton Road while crews dealt with the aftermath - with Cleveland Fire Brigade stating that the road reopened around 3.50pm.
It is not yet known whether anybody was taken to hospital or left injured as a result of the crash.
An eyewitness told Teesside Live: "The road has been closed, with traffic going all the way right back past Greatham, towards Newton Bewley. It looks like there were about three ambulances there, two fire engines were trying to get through. It looks like there were several cars involved."
A Cleveland Fire Brigade[5] spokesperson said at the time: "We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the A689 at the junction of Truro Drive. We have two appliances at the scene, on from our Stockton[6] station and one from our Billingham[7] station.
