Teenage girl dies in two-car crash

A teenage girl died following a fatal collision in Staffordshire. Emergency services were called to Ashbourne Road in Uttoxeter[1], where two cars had collided this afternoon.

A passenger in one of the cars, a teenage girl, was found with what Staffordshire Police have described as ‘serious injuries’. Tonight the force has confirmed the girl died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with leg injuries, while the driver of the other car was also taken to hospital having suffered what were said to be injuries to the abdomen and knees.

Collision investigators are appealing for anyone with information – or who has dashcam footage – to get in touch. The incident took place on the B5030 – which runs between Rocester and Uttoxeter[2] – at 2.45pm.

Along with the police, West Midlands Ambulance Service[4] and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service[5] also attended the scene. As reported by StokeonTrentLive[6] a stretch of the road was shut off as emergency services attended the scene.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl died in a collision in Uttoxeter this afternoon (August 12)

“At 2.45pm, we were called to Ashbourne Road (the B5030) after two cars collided.

“Officers went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. The road was closed for a number of hours whilst emergency services worked at the scene.

“A passenger of one of the cars, a teenage girl, was found with serious injuries. Sadly, she died at the scene. The driver of the same car was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

“The driver of the other car was taken to hospital with abdominal and knee injuries.”

An investigation into the collision is now underway. The spokeswoman added: “We are keen to speak to anyone with any dashcam footage from the area at the time or those with any information which could help collision investigators.”
