Teen injured in hit and run outside Midlands nightclub leads to …
An appeal has been launched to find the driver of a white car after a teenager was injured outside a Midlands nightclub in a ‘hit-and-run’. The incident took place in the early hours of a Sunday (August 6) morning when an 18-year-old man was hit by a car in Bond Gate in the centre of Nuneaton.
The 18-year-old was struck at around 1.20am and the driver failed to stop. The injured man was left with facial and leg injuries and had to be taken to hospital. Warwickshire[1] Police said the injuries are ‘not believed to be life-threatening’.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] spokesman said they were called at 1.17a, but were stood down ‘roughly ten minutes later’ when they were told someone was taking the patient to hospital. Now officers from the force are looking to identify the driver of the white car and are asking for them of any witnesses to come forward.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: “Did you witness a non-stop collision in Nuneaton town centre on Sunday (August 6) morning? A white car was being driven along Bond Gate around 1.20am when it was in collision with an 18-year-old man outside a nightclub.
“The driver failed to stop and left the area while the man was taken to hospital with facial and leg injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. Enquiries are currently ongoing and we’re keen to speak with the driver of the white car to see if they can help the investigation.
“We’d also encourage anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, who saw the vehicle and the way it was being driven beforehand, or who has mobile phone footage to get in touch. Anyone with information or footage can contact us quoting incident number 25 of 6 August.” Alternatively, anyone with any information can contact independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
