Surrey Police pull over impatient driver after risky roadworks …
A driver has been caught on a police dashcam putting other motorists ‘at risk’ after they decided to perform a two-vehicle overtake in front of a Vanguard Road Safety Team officer. The incident happened in Send south of Woking[1] on the approach to a set of temporary traffic lights.
The driver of the 4x4 undertook the manoeuvre on Wednesday afternoon (August 2) around 3.20pm along Send Barns Lane in a residential area. They were then pulled over at the side of the road and have since been reported to court for driving without due care and breaching a red traffic light.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police[2] said: “This driver didn’t fancy hanging around for the temporary lights and decided to risk everyone else’s safety by performing a two-vehicle overtake into a set of roadworks.”
A spokesperson for Surrey RoadSafe added that the incident happened “all in front of a Vanguard RST officer". They continued: “Reported to court for driving without due care and breaching a red traffic light.”
The Send roadworks started on July 25 and will continue until August 17, according to One.Network[4]. It involves two-way traffic signals and drivers have been warned “delays likely”.
