Stagecoach East announces timetable shake-up – Cambridgeshire …
New bus routes are set be introduced and some stops are cut, as Stagecoach[1] East announces a timetable shake-up across Cambridge, St Ives and Fenstanton. The new timetables will start operating on September 3, 2023.
The routes impacted will be Busway A[2] between St Ives[3] and Cambridge[4], Route F between Fenstanton and St Ives, Citi 2 between Milton and Cambridge, Citi 5 between Longstanton and Cambridge, Route 8a between Orchard Par and Cambridge, and Route 25 – which runs from Trumpington park and ride to Babraham park and ride.
Along Route F, evening journeys at 6.25pm and 6.40pm will be added between Monday and Saturday. These will run from St Ives bus station to Fenstanton.
Stops will be cut along Busway A. The Morrisons in St Ives will no longer be served and, along Histon Road, buses will only stop at the Akeman Street bus stop.
Darren Roe, managing director of Stagecoach East, said: “It is hugely important to Stagecoach East that we offer our customers the outstanding levels of service that they have come to expect. Part of that ambition means making occasional changes to the timetable to improve services over the long term.
“With these improvements, we aim to enhance capacity, punctuality, reliability, and convenience on several core routes – to meet current travel needs, supported by current passenger data.”
Along Citi 5, a new direct link between Bar Hill and St Ives will be introduced. Some morning journeys towards Cambridge will now start at St Ives park and ride, while some evening trips from Cambridge will continue on to St Ives after Longstanton.
Minor timetable changes will be made along Citi 2, route 8a and route 25 – which Stagecoach East said will help to improve reliability. For instance, the first and last buses along route 25 will leave Babraham park and ride five minutes earlier.
Stagecoach East has asked passengers to check updated timetables for specific journeys, which can be found here[6].
