Stagecoach bus driver killed in crash was ‘absolute legend and …

Tributes have flooded in for a bus driver who sadly lost his life following a crash on the A77 near Newton Mearns.[1][2][3]

Gordon Stirling, 23, was behind the wheel of the Stagecoach service 4 bus when it was involved in a crash with a Ford Transit van on Monday, August 14.

The Crosshouse man sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow where he passed away five days later.

The 42-year-old van driver, who was in a serious but stable condition, is now stable.

Loved ones have taken to social media to pay tribute to the ‘absolute legend’.

One wrote: “You were an absolute legend and true best friend through school years and always wanted to help anyone he could and where possible.

“RIP GORDON 19/8/23 always one of the good guys.”

Another added: “He was the best friend I ever had and it was a pleasure having him in my life.”

One close friend posted: “The bestest pal I could have ever asked for. I’ll forever remember him for the amazing guy he was, never failed to put a smile on my face ever. “

Enquiries into the incident are still ongoing.
