Shocking footage emerges of Skoda suddenly bursting into flames …
A driver has escaped injury after his car suddenly burst into flames[1]. Shocking footage from the scene has shown the ferocious flames that spread before emergency services arrived.
The fire broke out at around 1.40pm on Sunday (August 20), when the driver of the Skoda pulled up in Hough Hill in Swannington, near Coalville[2], on the way from Barwell after noticing some smoke from the vehicle. Within moments, a few sudden “noises” followed from within the car which then resulted in flames which quickly spread.
Pictures and video from the scene show the scale of the flames which quickly developed. Two vehicles were parked close by the burning Skoda, with one forced to move as the fire continued to spread.

Thick black smoke rose into the air as one fire crew from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service’s[4] Coalville station were rushed to the scene. The top end of Hough Hill, close to Hoo Ash Roundabout, was closed off with traffic turned away in both directions.
Coalville crews used hose reel jets to tackle the flames, with the fire brought under control at around 2pm. The Skoda, which the owner reportedly had only purchased days earlier, was ruined. One of the vehicles close to it, a red Ford Fiesta, suffered heat damage to its front, with the front bumper and licence plate melted away.
The driver of the Skoda escaped unhurt, while no injuries were reported. Fire crews remain on the scene, with the top end of Hough Hill currently closed off. A cause for the fire is currently unknown.
