Road to be closed ‘for some time’ after serious Hemel Hempstead …
A serious collision has closed a busy Hemel Hempstead road this morning (Monday, August 28). The A414 has been closed by Herts Police officers.
It’s reported that the collision took place on the eastbound carriageway at around 6am. It took place between Green Lane (Phoenix Gateway Roundabout, Hemel Hempstead) and A5183 Watling Street (Park Street Roundabout, St Albans ).
A spokesperson for Herts Police said: “Drivers are asked to avoid the A414, near the M1 in #Hemel, following a road traffic collision this morning. A road closure is on Breakspear Way at the junction with Green Lane.
“It is likely to be closed for some time. Thanks for your patience.”
The entry and exit slip roads on the M1 southbound nearby at junction 8 have also been closed. A spokesperson for the National Highways added: “Following a serious collision, The #A414 is now closed both ways between the #M1 J8 (#HemelHempstead) and the #A405 #StAlbans.
“#TrafficOfficers and contractors are assisting with strategic closures. @HertsPolice have advised that there are no times for reopening at this stage.”
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes. Herts Police and the East of England Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
