Drivers in and around Stockport will have two National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And they are both are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 8pm July 28 to 7am September 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

And one more closure will begin over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 8.30pm September 9 to 5am September 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct 23 – one lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
