Restaurant smashed up as thug rams glass door with chair
A man has been arrested after a Somerset restaurant's front door was smashed up after furniture was thrown at it. The incident unfolded this morning (August 7) at Brazz in Castle Bow, Taunton[1].
Avon and Somerset Police[2] said officers were called out to the scene at around 7.25am after receiving reports of a man hurling a metal chair repeatedly at the front door of the venue. CCTV footage released by the restaurant's owners show a man grabbing a chair from outside the premises before throwing it at the door and using it as a makeshift battering ram.
A picture taken after the attack shows the main door of the venue smashed up. Brazz's owner Ronan Hunter told Somerset Live[3] no-one was hurt during the "frightening" incident.
Mr Hunter said: "This morning our team have had to deal with a frightening and upsetting situation whereby a vagrant has repeatedly smashed our glass doors with a metal chair. Thankfully nobody was hurt, neither our team nor our guests, but obviously a few have been a little shaken up."
Police confirmed a man was arrested over the incident and an appeal for witnesses has been issued. A spokesperson said: "An arrest has been made following a criminal damage incident at a premises in Taunton.
