People evacuated after shop goes up in flames

People were evacuated after a shop went up in flames.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue were called to St Mary's Road in Garston[1] at around 4pm today, Sunday, August 13. When crews arrived they found a two-storey shop building involved in a fire.
Two fire engines and a number of police attended the scene. There were also a number of road closures in place. People living in the flat above were evacuated from the building and accounted for.
A hose reel jet was used alongside a thermal imaging camera and a triple extension ladder. Crews currently remain on scene to ventilate the building, a spokesperson for the emergency service said.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue[3] said: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at a fire at St Mary’s Road, Liverpool. Two fire engines are in attendance.
"Crews arrived to find a two-storey shop building involved in fire. A hose reel jet was used alongside a thermal imaging camera and a triple extension ladder. Residents from the flat above were evacuated and all accounted for.
"Crews currently remain on scene to ventilate the building."
