Owner of burned out car where man was found dead named by police

Police have confirmed the name of the owner of a car in which a body was found in a Welsh village. South Wales Police said it was registered to a 55-year-old man from Swansea.

Officers confirmed they had discovered a body inside a car that was on fire on Monday afternoon, August 21, and that the individual's death was being treated as unexplained, reports WalesOnline.[1][2]

In an update, South Wales Police said the registered owner of the car involved in the incident was Marcus Lewis, aged 55, from Swansea. The body found inside the car has not been formally identified but Mr Lewis's family have been informed of the incident.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police was called just before 12.15pm on Monday afternoon, 21st August, by Mid and West Wales Fire Service with a report of a car fire at Three Crosses, Gower."

"Detectives can confirm that the registered owner of the car was Marcus Lewis, aged 55, from Swansea. The body has not been formally identified however the family of Marcus Lewis have been informed of the incident and are being supported by specially trained officers.

"The death remains as unexplained at this time and enquiries are continuing into the full circumstances behind the incident."
