Newhaven A259 crash closes road in both directions and leaves two …

A crash on the A259[1] closed the road in both directions on Wednesday morning (August 2) in Newhaven[2]. The crash, which involved three cars, resulted in the road being closed from just before 7am.

Sussex Police[3] were at the scene of the closure and SECAmb paramedics were also present after the crash. Traffic was diverted away from the area, with long delays reported.

The incident happened between the Denton roundabout and Mill Drove in Seaford[4]. Sussex Police confirmed two of the drivers were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic analytics company Inrix said at the time: “A259 Newhaven Road in both directions closed long delays, queueing traffic due to accident, three vehicles involved between B2109 Avis Road (Denton roundabout, Newhaven) and Mill Drove (Seaford). Congestion to Alfriston and Beddingham as traffic diverts.”
