Newborn baby in serious condition after Ferrari crash

Police have provided an update after a newborn baby was injured in a crash.

The three week old baby boy was hurt while travelling as a passenger in a dark grey Ford Fiesta which crashed with a Ferrari.[1] The incident happened at around 5pm on Friday, July 21, at the junction of the A558 Daresbury Expressway and Manor Park Avenue in Runcorn[2].

Emergency services including Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance service attended. It was reported that the Ferrari was travelling from the Mersey Gateway[3] and the Fiesta was joining the carriageway from Manor Park Avenue.

The driver of the Ferrari, a 34-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later discharged. Today, Wednesday, August 2, police confirmed the baby remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Cheshire Police’s[5] sergeant Andy Dennison said: “We’re keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or events leading up to it.

“The same goes for anyone with dash cam footage that may have captured events or prior driving of either vehicle leading up to the collision and the collision itself. Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via cheshire.police.uk/tell-us[6] quoting IML 1601942.”
