‘Nail-biting’ moment traffic weaves through Lime Kiln as traffic lights …

This was the moment motorists navigated one of the Stoke-on-Trent’s most hectic junctions – after all the traffic lights went out. And drivers described the conditions as ‘nail-biting’ at Lime Kiln earlier today.

It’s not the first time the lights at the notorious junction have gone out. StokeonTrentLive reported how they failed back on July 4[1] and before that in April.

The junction, simply known locally as ‘Lime Kiln lights’ is a busy one connecting drivers to Hanley, Bentilee, Fenton and Abbey Hulton. One motorist told StokeonTrentLive the lights were out from around 7am.

Footage captured from earlier today shows vehicles attempting to negotiate all directions of the junction with no signals.

Meanwhile Stoke-on-Trent City Council[2] say the out-of-hours team were notified this morning who managed to get them back on. However they subsequently failed again and engineers were sent out at around 1pm.

Nearby workers say the lights are back working again this afternoon.
