Motorcyclist dies two days after serious crash in Yeovil

A motorcyclist has died after a serious crash in Yeovil[1] last week. The man, in his 20s, was taken to hospital following the collision on Western Avenue, but died two days later.

Emergency services were called to a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Western Avenue at around 4.15pm on Thursday August 3. The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries at the scene.

The road was shut for a number of hours as an air ambulance landed at Yeovil Town Football Club and airlifted the man to hospital. Avon and Somerset Constabulary is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the incident.

A police spokesman said: “A motorcyclist has died following a collision in Yeovil last week. A car and a motorbike collided in Western Avenue at the junction with Malmesbury Way.

“The motorcyclist was seriously injured and taken to hospital. Sadly, he died in hospital two days later. A specially-trained family liaison officer is supporting the family and our thoughts remain with them.

“The driver of the car, a woman in her 30s, suffered minor injuries. Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and we’d ask anyone who saw this collision or has any relevant footage, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223186838.”
