Market cancelled as ‘disruption’ makes it ‘unsafe’ for traders

A Lincolnshire market has been cancelled due to alleged anti-social behaviour in a town centre. Police have issued a 48 hour dispersal order which covers the centre of Boston[1] due to “pockets of mild disorder” that broke out on Tuesday, August 22.

Boston Borough Council[2] made the decision to cancel Boston Market on Wednesday, August 23 after it was deemed unsafe. On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the council said: “Due to anti-social behaviour and disruption in the town centre today it was not deemed safe to erect market stalls for tomorrow’s market.

“As a result of this and the safety of our staff and traders Boston Market UK will not be trading tomorrow (Wednesday).” Lincolnshire Police put the dispersal order in place on Tuesday evening.
