Man killed after being hit by lorry on major Essex border road
A man has sadly died after being hit by a lorry on a busy road on the Essex border. Police called at around 4.30pm on Monday (August 7), following reports of a crash between a pedestrian and a lorry on Goodmayes Road, Ilford.
Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene. the pedestrian, a 45-year-old man, was taken to hospital, where he later sadly died.
The pedestrian’s next of kin have been informed. No arrests have been made and the driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.
The road was shut for hours while accident investigation works took place. Police are currently making their enquiries into the incident.
Police are now appealing for anybody with any information to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: “An investigation is ongoing following a fatal collision in Redbridge.
“Police were called at approximately 16:30hrs on Monday, 7 August to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian in Goodmayes Road, Ilford. Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene; the pedestrian, a 45-year-old man, was taken to hospital, where he later died.
“His next of kin have been informed. The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene. There have been no arrests. Road closures remain in place. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage that could help police should call 101 ref CAD 5180/7Aug”.
