Man dies after falling ill on Merseyside beach

A man died after suffering a medical episode on a Merseyside beach.

Emergency services were called to Ainsdale[1] beach at around 1.15pm today (August 17). A man in his 50s died at the scene, having suffered a medical episode.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and next of kin have been informed. A file has been passed to the Coroner.

People in the area reported seeing a significant emergency service[3] presence this afternoon. Part of the beach was said to have been cordoned off.
