Man dies after being found in River Avon in Bath
A man died after being spotted in the River Avon in Bath[1] this morning (August 22). Avon and Somerset Police say the death is being treated as unexplained.
Emergency services were called to Green Park Road at around 8.45am. A police cordon was erected on Victoria Bridge[2], with a witness reporting officers patrolling each side of the river.
Sadly, the man died at the scene. The force say he is yet to be identified and are asking the public for information on his death.
Avon and Somerset Police[4] said: “Emergency services are in Green Park Road, Bath, after a call reporting someone in the river at about 8.45am on Tuesday 22 August. Police, fire and ambulance crews attended, but sadly the man died.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained. Enquiries to identify the man and notify his next of kin continue.
“If you have any information which could help, please call 101 and give the reference 5223202979.”
