Man attacked by gang at Dewsbury market and rushed to hospital

A man was left in hospital after being attacked by thieving gang in Dewsbury[1] yesterday.

Around 4.46pm on Tuesday, August 8, the victim was assaulted by four or five men in the square at Dewsbury Market, off Whitehall Way. One of the thugs stole the victim’s property before the gang launched their attack.

The assaulted man was rushed to hospital after suffering injuries to his head and his hands. The injuries are not life-threatening.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police[3] want to speak to anyone with any information regarding the attack. Confirming the details of what happened, a spokesperson for the force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Dewsbury town centre.

“Kirklees CID would like to speak to anyone who saw or has information about an assault on a man in the square of the Dewsbury open market, off Whitehall Way, at about 4,46pm on Tuesday August 8. Officers have been conducting a number of enquiries into the incident in which a male victim was assaulted by a group of four or five males.

“The victim had property stolen from him by one of the men prior to the assault. He was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries to his head and hands.
