M5 crash: Motorbiker injured in serious M5 collision with car
A motorcyclist has been rush to hospital after a crash on the M5 in Somerset this morning (August 11). Emergency services, including an air ambulance[1], were called to the scene near Bridgwater at around 10.30am.
The crash, which involved a car and a motorcycle, took place heading northbound between junctions 23 and 24. The motorway was closed in both directions as police and paramedics attended.
As of 11.30am, the northbound carriageway remained closed. The southbound carriageway was shut but has since reopened.
Avon and Somerset Police said: “The M5 has been closed northbound between junctions 23 and 24 following a collision between a car and a motorcycle at about 10.30am this morning (Friday 11 August).
“Police and paramedics have attended the scene. The motorcyclist is being conveyed to hospital.
“The southbound carriageway was shut for a short time while the air ambulance attended, but has now reopened.”
