M40 likely to be closed overnight near Bicester after crash
The M40 southbound carriageway has been closed throughout Wednesday afternoon after the collision took place near Cherwell Valley services in Oxfordshire.
Fuel spilt across the motorway after a lorry was involved in a crash near junction 10.
National Highways described it as “a substantial diesel spillage across the carriageway”.
The road is likely to be closed until the morning as emergency resurfacing works are being carried out by workers.
The crash was first reported just before noon with traffic at a standstill for hours.
Traffic stranded at junction 10 was diverted off the motorway via junction nine by 4pm.
