M1 traffic recap after serious crash closed road

A section of the M1 southbound was closed between J12 Toddington and J11 Dunstable due to a serious crash. Emergency services and Traffic Officers attended the scene.

There were two miles of congestion on approach. Motorists were being asked to 'please allow extra travel time and avoid the area if possible' by National Highways.

The incident was first reported on traffic monitoring system Inrix, just before 6pm. Inrix stated: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M1 Southbound from J12 A5120 Harlington Road (Flitwick) to J11A A5 Dunstable Northern Bypass (Dunstable / Luton North)."
