‘Lovely’ woman hit by lorry at Shell garage named

A 'lovely' woman who was killed after being hit by a lorry has been named as police continue to investigate.

Merseyside Police were called to the Shell petrol station on Scotland Road just after 8.30am on Thursday, August 10, following reports of a woman being hit by a lorry. Paramedics attended but a 24-year-old woman died at the scene.

Police have now named the woman as Nicole Cummings after she was formally identified.

A 51-year-old man from Lancashire stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Nicole’s family continue to be supported by specially trained officers and our thoughts remain with them at this tragic time.

“Although we have made an arrest, I would again appeal directly to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information that may help to please contact us. In addition if you live locally or were in the area at the time and have any CCTV or dashcam footage, please get in touch.”
